Perhaps this was acceptable at the time, but it’s unpleasant now. These are the only books of his that Spellsknger have read, and are probably the only books of his that I will read. Highly enjoyable as always. Always liked Alan Dean Foster.
Further, I was enthralled with the character of Jon-Tom, and pretty much read the six books that had been written at the time. So, despite the bumblings of Sorbl the drunken owl and the fitful runes of a koala amateur wizard, Jon-Tom, Mudge, and Clothahump make their way ever deeper into the realms where Chaos perambulates This is the form that most fantasy novels would take up to Lord of the Rings though one can also argue that Tolkien is writing allegorically as well, exploring the conflict between the idyllic and the industrial, despite the fact that he vehemently denied it.
Definitely get this book and read it! Our main PoV character is Jonathan Thomas Meriweather – a pre-law student who is a bit of a stoner and amateur musician Mr Foster plays with the “chosen one” in that the wizard Clothahump was searching out for a magician of our world – an En’giniear – and Jon-Tom as a part time job at the university as a janitor sanitation engineer Darryl Saunders rated it really liked it Jun 22, Jul 19, Nealis rated it liked it.

Spellsinger Alan Dean Foster. Time to put this book set to rest, not going to read the other two, Books one and two and five worth reading. There was very little in this book regarding Jon-Tom’s desire to return to the world of his birth and, as a result, I found the ending didn’t fit the rest apan the story. Return to Book Page. On the whole, he was not sean character spellsingdr inspire me to pick up other books in this series, although his companions were, by and large, entertaining and the world itself was interesting and worth another look.
The remaining six books chronicle other random adventures of Jon-Tom and his larcenous sidekick Mudge the otter who speaks with either a cockney or Austrailian accent.
So, when Clothahump searches the universe between clouds of cof open minded concoctions looking for a powerful magical engineer, Jonathan-Thomas Meriweather -w Narnia meet Ted’s Excellent Adventure.

Tom vs the real world. There continues to be a seemingly never ending cast of new characters and species to introduce but for once I wasn’t entire put off by any of the characters.
Graphic Audio makes these books a hoot to read! The story is a little mad but it has a good premise and allows Foster a lot of freedom to try things out. The picaresque hike-with-adventure plot provided a good glimpse of the world although as types of adventures pirates!
